Inventor: Change View Cube Orientation

The interface allows you to switch between standard orthographic and isometric views.

Release 2009 of Inventor introduced the View Cube as a 3D navigation tool. The interface allows you to switch between standard orthographic and isometric views. When not using the cube to change views, the cube provides visual feedback about your current view orientation.

However depending on how the model was created, the view on the cube label or orientation might not match orientation of the model. In the example below the front of the model is labeled the right side on the cube and is turned clock wise 90 degrees.  To correct this you can follow the procedure below:

  • Rotate your model to the desired “Front” orientation
  • Right click on the view cube and choose “Set Current View as Front”
