Change Content Center from Local to Server Based

Challenge

How do I change my Inventor Content Center from Desktop Content (local to your workstation) to Autodesk Vault Server (shared environment)?

Solution

Here are the steps to make this change.

1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Find Autodesk Inventor Content Center Libraries 2011 (Desktop content), uninstall this.

Note:  If your Vault Server and Content Center are already installed, skip step 2 and go to step 3.

2. Install Vault Server and Content Center libraries.  This process varies depending on how old your software is.

• Older versions simply require that you insert disk 1 and choose to install the Vault Server and the Content Center libraries.
• Newer versions have a separate dedicated Vault Server disk to install from.
• If you are on subscription and you downloaded your software you will have to download the Vault Server installation files and install.

3. Launch Inventor and go to Tools > Application Options > Content Center Tab and select Autodesk Vault Server.  Close and reopen inventor for the changes to take effect.
