Modify the shape of a Part in the Content Center

Applies to:  Autodesk Inventor

Challenge:

I need a part similar to one found in the Content Center with some modifications.

Solution:

Place a part from the Content Center check custom.  Save to a read only location.  Give it a new name and modify it.  Publish to the Content Center.  Here are more detailed steps for this process.

Be sure that you have a read-write library available to your project.  Go to Projects, at the bottom right corner select Configure Content Center Libraries, make sure that a Library with Access Rea/Write is checked.  You can only customize those in a read and write library. Save and Exit.

Place a component from the Content Center and check the Custom Icon.  When placing, you will be asked for the name and where to place it.  Be sure you place in a non-library location so that it is not read-only.

Open the part and make modifications as desired. Rename and add new parameters if necessary.  You will not need to Author the part since the one you have copied was previously authored and is already formatted to include the necessary parameters. On the Manage Tab, select Publish Part.  Enter the information for the new part, it should automatically go to the same category as the previous part.
