Applies to: Civil 2010 and Civil 3D 2010
Challenge:
You want to choose a new starting number before creating additional points.
Solution:
As a best practice, you may want to include this starting point number in a template for a design drawing so that you can automatically start creating points at parcel corners from point number 200, or in another file create building or parking stakeout points starting at 10,000.
To make this type of change in a template, you will have to go to the Settings tab, and expand Point>Commands. Right-click on the command CreatePoints and choose Edit Command Settings.
Within this dialog box, expand the Point Identity item, and modify the value for Next Point Number.
Note: This edit can also be made on the fly when using the Point Creation tools. Click on the chevron at the right end of the Create Points toolbar to see the same options as we looked at via the command settings.
