What’s new in the AutoCAD Electrical Interface, and can I modify it?

Applies to:  AutoCAD Electrical 2013

Challenge :

What’s new in the AutoCAD Electrical Interface, and can I modify it?

Solution :

For 2013, AutoCAD Electrical now also uses a context menu also known as “Menu Mode” or “Mark Mode.”

How it works:

Here is a video from Autodesk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXdMikUiTZA

For example, if a component is selected and you right click or you right click on a component you will get the image below.  This will give you a radial menu of common commands you may need when right clicking on such an object.

How to turn it off:

In the command line type AEMM, below are the variable options, “0” disables it.

The AEMM system variable controls the marking menu display.

0
Marking Menu is off.
1
Marking Menu with icons only.
2
Marking Menu with text only.
3
Marking Menu with icons and text.

The initial value is 3. The value is saved in the registry and persistent across AutoCAD Electrical sessions.
