The traditional product design & development process is heavily based on the build-and-test method, which often results in products that are conservatively over-designed. The components in these products are likely oversized and over the weight that is structurally required. This leads to wasted material, higher manufacturing and shipping costs, lower performance and energy efficiency, and reduced reliability of the product.

About the speaker:

Salmon Kalkhoran, Senior Application Engineer, ANSYS Inc.

Salmon has over 10 years of experience in the engineering industry and has been with ANSYS for 5 years; supporting customers throughout North America on ANSYS Structural solutions and beyond. Prior to joining the ANSYS team, he worked as a simulation consultant for the Aerospace and Oil & Gas industries. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
