What you’ll learn

This course shows you how to move from a blank Maxwell project to a validated electromagnetic design, across three tracks.
Building the Model
  • Navigate the Ansys Electronics Desktop and Maxwell project structure
  • Create geometry natively, or import CAD from Inventor / SpaceClaim / STEP
  • Assign materials, work with the Maxwell library, and use RMxprt templates for standard motor topologies
Setting Up the Physics
  • Apply boundary conditions and excitations cleanly in 2D and 3D
  • Use design variables and parameters to keep your model flexible
  • Build a mesh that converges — including transient mesh-link tricks
Solving and Interpreting
  • Navigate the Ansys Electronics Desktop and Maxwell project structure
  • Create geometry natively, or import CAD from Inventor / SpaceClaim / STEP
  • Assign materials, work with the Maxwell library, and use RMxprt templates for standard motor topologies

Most electromagnetic engineers don’t struggle with the physics.
They struggle with the setup.

Is this familiar? Geometry imports wrong. Excitations refuse to apply. The mesh blows up. The solver runs for six hours and converges on nothing useful. The results are right, but you can’t translate them into a design decision.

Ansys Maxwell is one of the most capable low-frequency electromagnetic solvers on the market. But a powerful solver with bad setup gives you slow runs and bad answers. This course shows how KETIV’s simulation engineers actually use it on real projects.

What Maxwell-driven design delivers

  • Predict motor torque, back-EMF, and losses before you cut steel
  • Optimize transformers for efficiency, core loss, and thermal headroom
  • Validate actuator and solenoid force across the operating envelope
  • Catch eddy-current, proximity-effect, and AC-loss issues early
  • Reduce physical prototyping cycles and accelerate time-to-market

Why learn Maxwell from KETIV

Working on a real motor, transformer, or actuator design? Stuck on a setup that won’t converge? Need to train a whole team? KETIV can help.

KETIV is an Ansys Select Channel Partner with a dedicated simulation practice. This course was built by the same engineers who consult on production electric machines, transformers, and electromechanical devices — including next-generation aerospace electric motors at LaunchPoint EPS and other manufacturers shipping real hardware. When you take this series, you’re learning the workflow that’s already in production at the customers we serve.
