Crosno Construction is a California-based fabricator specializing in the design and construction of field-built storage tanks for the oil and gas, industrial, and water industries. With over four decades of experience, the company is known for its precision welding, custom engineering capabilities, and strong focus on safety and quality.
Like so many others, Crosno Construction relied on Autodesk Vault running on a local server to manage its engineering data. While functional for day-to-day work, the on-premise setup proved vulnerable when the company suffered a cyberattack, resulting in the loss of nearly a year’s worth of CAD files. As Brian Terberg shared, “If you don’t have your original version of Vault, you don’t get them back.” Without a dedicated IT team, restoring that data proved impossible—and maintaining the system became a distraction for engineering staff, whose time was better spent on project tasks.
“I’m not an IT guy…spending time going through Vault files is not something I should be spending my time on.”
In addition to the security concerns, Crosno faced limitations in flexibility and access. Remote work, emergency file retrieval, and basic server maintenance all became cumbersome under the existing infrastructure.
To address these challenges, Crosno partnered with KETIV to migrate Vault to a fully managed cloud environment. The decision shifted data management responsibilities off their internal team and into the hands of experts, freeing engineers to focus on design and production rather than server upkeep. Brian explains, “We thought, ‘you know, that’s a great idea. We don’t have to have a local IT guy taking care of a server. We know it’s backed up.’”
KETIV’s Vault in the Cloud solution offered a secure, accessible, and reliable platform for managing engineering data. With minimal disruption, Crosno’s team transitioned to the cloud, gaining centralized access to their CAD assets from any location with confidence in the system’s security and uptime.
The cloud-based solution delivered immediate and lasting advantages. With data backups handled automatically and cybersecurity managed by professionals, Crosno eliminated the risk of data loss that once jeopardized their operations. Engineers now have access to project files from anywhere—supporting productivity whether in the office, on the shop floor, or working remotely.
Administrative burdens have also eased significantly. Software updates, troubleshooting, and Vault-specific maintenance are now handled by KETIV’s responsive support team, allowing Crosno’s internal resources to focus on what they do best: delivering high-quality fabricated solutions to their customers.
Perhaps most importantly, the system simply works. File uploads and downloads are fast, consistent, and indistinguishable from local performance. The result is a seamless, secure experience that empowers Crosno’s engineering team and strengthens their operations across the board.
“I don’t have to worry about losing my files. They’re there. It’s very secure. I haven’t had a single problem with that stuff.”
“If I go on vacation and somebody needs something in an emergency, I can log in from any location and get to my files.”
“I still have control over everything we do. I just don’t have to manage all the other extraneous stuff that comes with Vault.”
“The KETIV team takes care of all the issues with Vault when it comes to maintenance stuff… I don’t have to worry about it. I’ve called, and it’s worked out great. In a matter of minutes, it’s taken care of.”
“I don’t even realize that I’m working in a cloud server when I upload and download files… it’s been nice.”
