Receiving the error message “The file is checked out to another user” in Inventor

User cannot save a file and received the error message: “The file is checked out to another user.” The user also does not use Vault.

This error is due to the file having a shared history, having been marked as 'Checked Out' by a previous user before the file was transferred.

Autodesk Inventor

Step #1: In Inventor, Go to Project > Right Click on Type > Change to 'Shared'

Step #2: Open the Inventor part/assembly > In the model tree, click on the ‘+’ > Add the 'File Status' tab

Step #3: Select ‘Resolve’ on the error file

Step #4: Select Check Out on the full file tree

Step #5: Check in all files

Step #6: Change the Inventor Project to 'Single User'
