There are a number of packages – MotorCAD, Maxwell, Icepak, Fluent, Mechanical – that can model heat flow problems for electric motors. In this KETIV Virtual Academy session, we will describe these packages and their workflows, and the pros and cons of each—when and why to pick one workflow over another. We will cover motor design from the concept stage to detailed design and provide further information on how to get started simulating how thermal conditions will affect your motor’s performance.

Graham Stevens is a certified ANSYS Application Engineer (AE) and has been designing new products for over 25 years.  His focus is on bringing products from the laboratory into production and cost reduction, and serves as a simulation AE for low frequency and high frequency electronics, electronics cooling and reliability, optics, optimization, and multi-physics.  He has a B.S. in Physics, and a Masters in Manufacturing Engineering
